This one is nice in that the midwife keeps her hands off the baby and the mother's body during the emergency. Of course, it isn't a proper squat (squatting on the balls of one's feet is exhausting!) and it's a little strange that the mother is made to strain to pick up her baby -- seems the midwife isn't really paying attention there. Not that she should be plopping the baby up on the mother, but if the mother is clearly trying to get to her baby and having trouble reaching... a little help would be in order. Ah but, I'm never happy anyway, am I? The queen nit-picker I am. ;)
Linda, have I been watching a different video from you? Do you really mean "emergency" or "emergence"? I certainly didn't see an emergency. Secondly, she's on a birthing stool, and supported by her partner. As the clip is only short, we have no way of knowing how long she squatted. Finally, I didn't see the mother strain to pick up her baby, the midwife simply passed the baby up to her when she seemed to be ready. It's all about reading individual situations, and it's a million miles away from the hospital births I've seen recently and some of my own experiences of giving birth. So you aren't the queen nitpicker, I am...

awesome video! i love how calm the mom is while she's pushing. she's so lucid and mellow, even while the baby is almost crowning!
Love this video! Very inspiring.
I am just curious if you got my email a couple of weeks ago?
